The site of a former Royal Navy Armaments Depot in Pembrokeshire could soon be leading the way in making fuel for trains, buses, HGVs, and industry in Wales more environmentally friendly, under plans announced today.
Trecwn Green Energy Hub, which is being developed by Statkraft, Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy, is the company’s first green hydrogen project to be announced in the UK. The Hub is the first of several projects planned by Statkraft, which would create jobs and utilise local knowledge and skills, helping transport switch from using fossil fuels to clean alternatives.
Texas led the United States in building new renewable energy projects last year, according to a report by the American Clean Power Association.
Texas installed 7,352 megawatts of new wind, solar and energy installation projects in 2021, significantly outpacing California, which installed 2,697 megawatts of storage projects.
Texas also surpassed other states in the amount of storage it has under construction or in advanced development, reaching nearly 20,000 megawatts, followed by California at nearly 14,000 megawatts.
Pattern Energy Group and its Japanese affiliate, Green Power Investment Corporation (GPI), have secured financing for the 112MW Ishikari offshore wind farm and battery storage project.
Located around 3km from Ishikari Bay in Hokkaido, Japan, the offshore facility will feature a battery storage component with 100MW x 180MWh of capacity.
The project was funded by MUFG Bank together with subsidiaries of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings.
Tritium, a global developer and manufacturer of direct current (DC) fast charging technology for electric vehicles, announced that the company will provide fast chargers for a new EV highway that will span more than 7,000 kilometers (4,350 miles) across the state of Western Australia.
The project is part of a AUD$43.5 million investment by the Western Australian government, focused on expanding access to EV infrastructure across the state. To launch the investment, the Western Australian government awarded a contract to JET Charge, which will supply hardware for 98 fast chargers across 49 locations.
